Discussion Questions - Essay Example A good practice in team settings is giving different members a chance to be team leaders. Attitudes influence the behavior of people when they work together. I once worked in a company that had morale issues. Everyone was down because the company was having financial troubles that were affecting the entire staff. The employees were getting paid a week or two late every payroll. The attitude of the employees was horrendous. People would come to work late and leave early. Nobody respected the managerial staff because they were doing nothing to ensure they employees got paid. It was one excuse after the other. The lack of commitment by managers led to an organizational chaos. There are generational differences that affect the way an organization operates. The younger employees are not as committed to a company as the older employees because younger employees have more options. They expect a company to help them in their professional development. If a company does not provide its younger employees opportunity for growth the most likely scenario is that they wonââ¬â¢t be able to retain the employee. Older employees value job security and a stable working environment. A way to get the younger employees and older workers to participate with each other is to formulate work teams made up of both young and experienced workers. Managers are not the only workers that can lead a company. There are many informal leaders in organizations. These people are able to motivate the rest of their colleagues to perform work at a higher level. Sometimes these leaders are silent leaders that influence the behavior of others through example. For instance a person at a manufacturing line can motivate others to improve their performance by producing more units per day than anybody else.
